Le Saint Victor

One of our favourite places to eat. The restaurant sits on a quiet square in a tiny village, which is only 2 km away from Villa Duroux. It has a lovely terrace under a canopy of trees and the room inside is airy and very pleasant. Inventive and traditional recipes, reasonably priced, locally sourced. Service is excellent and dedicated to satisfy the customer. This is true French cuisine without the Michelin prices!

Moulin du Pont Lisle

A busy riverside restaurant with a diverse menu awaits you at Lisle which is just 5 km from Villa Duroux. This old mill and trout farm has been converted into a modern restaurant with a wonderful view of the river Dronne. The owner-chef takes pride in providing meals main primarily from local Périgordine ingredients.

Auberge Délices de la Treille

This is our closest restaurant and has been under new management since summer 2022. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace covered in vines and it is a great place to entertain particularly on Friday nights during the summer when Montagrier comes alive with the Montagrillade communal night markets with live music. The menu here is a traditional French offering with also a kids menu available.

St Aquilin

Le St Aquilin is a new venture which opened in 2022. It has quickly become established and it is always advised to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. The food is literally a work of art as high quality ingredients are tastefully arranged on your plate for each course and the 3 course lunch for around 20€ is highly recommended. The restaurant is also open during the evenings for an à la carte expérience.

Château Neuvic

The château restaurant was one of our best finds in 2022. It’s a short 20 minute drive through the countryside from Villa Duroux. On arrival you are immediately transported to the grandeur of a Dordogne château with its beautiful facade welcoming you and drawing you in to see what is inside. The restaurant itself is in two distinct parts, the inside which is beautifully presented in absolute French chic and the terrace where in summer you can have the apéro and gaze down from the balustrades to the river before eating under the shaded parasols of the terrace. The menu here is a formula of 3 courses for an unbelievable price of 20€. The quality of cuisine is high and you leave the table wanting to reserve already for your next time.
After your meal, take a walk around the château wooded gardens to work off some of those extra calories. It’s well worth the visit.

Château Reynat

Situated in Chancelade 15 mins drive from Villa Duroux, this château restaurant is characterised by its orangery. It’s a good place for a special occasion with a varied menu. You definitely get the full French feeling when dining here.

Étang de Reynats

The restaurant can be found on the near side of Perigueux at Chancelade and has been a real find. Summer dining on the terrace is recommended as you can enjoy an apéro whilst watching the ducks play on the lake which borders the terrace. The cuisine here is typically French and high quality with the lunch menu of 3 courses costing around 20€ per person. It’s very easy to lose track of time here in the tranquil setting.

Moulin d'Abbaye

The setting for this restaurant is one of the most picturesque in the Dordogne on the riverside in Brantôme. This is a Michelin restaurant and it’s prices reflect its status. Reservations are a must, so please let us know if we can help reserve for you well in advance of your visit to Villa Duroux.

Le Chabrot

Situated in the market square of Ribérac Le Chabrot is a taste of Old France with its classic restaurant interior and a menu which reflects both the modern and the classic French cuisine. We particularly enjoyed the menu degustation with the wine pairings and the local products which were served with the meal.

La Taverne

Reservations are required for this very busy restaurant situated on a terrace in Aubeterre which is a 25 minute drive from Villa Duroux. The restaurant is almost always full during summer and is particularly popular amongst British tourists. The menu is French and the offering is normally to a very high standard. Prices for the set menu are around 30€ per person but there is also the à la carte option.

Pizzas

At holiday time it is often the easiest and some times the best option to just have a pizza. There are a host of pizza options in and around Villa Duroux but here are the 2 Villa Duroux recommendations

Les Pieds dans l’eau Bourdeilles

Another of our good finds during 2022 this pizza shack is situated directly under the Château of Bourdeilles on the riverbank. As the word shack suggests this is not a restaurant with 50 different types of pizza but a kitchen serving high quality pizzas, gallettes and crêpes. This is a totally laid back location with just one cook and one server so please don’t expect fast food, but you can be assured of good food. Prices range from 12 to 15€ per pizza.

Le Cabanon

Situated by the riverside in Creyssac 15 mins drive from Villa Duroux, Le Cabanon is a well kept secret by most who visit. Reservations are a must as the service caters for a maximum 50 per day. The pizzas are excellent and the setting is close to perfect if you enjoy listening to the ripple of water over stones and an abundant green riverbank where you can see the trout swimming.

Easy lunches

Sometimes you might not wish for the full menu at lunchtime and so here are a few places where you can catch lighter lunches , salads and snacks

Rouge

Situated 3 km from Villa Duroux in Tocane St Apre, this small bijoux restaurant opens for coffee in the mornings and has a limited lunch menu of around 3 choices. It is recommended however to leave some space for the Pavlova dessert….it is magnificent for sweet lovers.

Bar du Midi

This busy street cafe in Ribérac has a loyal clientele which is testimony to the wonderful waiter/owner of the bar who must cover 10km each day around the tables. Lunch here starts at around 7.50€ and although it is a limited menu which often sells out, the quality is always good and the salads are particularly nice.

Café des Colonnes

Situated in the market place in Ribérac this is a classic French café/brasserie from its tree lined avenue and pavement café, to its classic french interior and its bright sun terrace at the rear. Here you can eat, drink and people watch to your hearts content. Colonnes has a varied menu ranging from steak frites and fish & chips to the more traditional French staples.

Petit Poisson - Home from home England

Yes it is possible for Les Anglais! The Dordogne has a very popular and successful mobile Fish & Chip van which travels each day throughout the year to several sites including Lisle and Ribérac which are stones throw from Villa Duroux. The Petit Poisson offers proper Chippy quality food and you will invariably find a number of Brits dining out in the open air and reminiscing about their favourite meal. Very often you will find that the van partners up with local bars and musicians to give you the full experience. Prices are around 17€ for fish & chips although there is a full range of other chip shop related products on offer too.
