Cannot Recommend Villa Duroux highly enough

Cannot Recommend Villa Duroux highly enough. Have just returned from a weeks holiday at gite 'Sophie'. The accommodation is spotless, spacious, comfortable and has every amenity you could possibly want. The pool facility is first class, and safe for little ones. The location is idyllic - in a stunning countryside location surrounded by corn fields and sunflowers, yet it is only 5 mins from Montagrier which has a great bar/restaurants. it is also centrally located to visit all the surrounding towns an villages and tourist spots such as Brontome, Perigueux etc. Finally, and probably most importantly - the hosts. Richard, Ola and their two children really made a difference. They were very warm, welcoming and attentive from the first minute to the last hurrah. Very knowledgeable of the local area -they can recommend places to visit, activities to do, book restaurants, everything you could wish for. They bring cocktails to the pool to enjoy a great sundowner. But most of all - They were just great company. Even presenting us with flowers, champagne and a wonderful homemade card as we celebrated our wedding anniversary, Cannot wait to return in the near future - and will definitely be staying for longer than a week - it just wasn't long enough!

Wonderful holiday in a beautiful, well kitted out villa with very friendly and helpful hosts!

The hosts for this property went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay and that we experienced all that this beautiful area had to offer. We received a fantastic welcome basket fully of delicious food and essentials which got our stay off to a great start. The property is a beautifully refurbished farm house which had a private shaded garden and the hosts have well thought out seating to enjoy this space. The kitchen well kitted out with great appliances and crockery making us feel so at home and meant we could enjoy cooking on holiday! The pool is well maintained and very clean, with lovely views over the area and the saltwalter meant that it was very pleasant to swim in. The area where the villa is situated is lovely and quiet with easy access to a number of beaches on the river Dronne. The river was so clean and shaded which meant for relaxing days with children paddling in the river and fishing. Our hosts suggested a canoeing activity along the river which our family really enjoyed as it was very quiet and scenic (much nicer than our preivous exerpiences on the Dordogne). We also enjoyed a lovely experience of the local town Montagrier which hosts music and food stalls on a Friday evening which was such fun and safe as the streets are closed to traffic during this event. Brantome also accesible by car from the villa was a lovely day out exploring the river and the market stalls. What a fantastic relaxing holiday - we hope to return soon!

It was a peaceful haven

Anthony and Lesley and our Dog Bobo spent a delightful week at the Villa Duroux, staying in Villa Sophie (2nd September to 8th September 2020). It was a peaceful haven, and heaven from the minute we arrived to the sad farewell to our wonderful hosts Richard and Ola (not forgetting their delightful girls, Sophie and Sienna and their cutie Westie Enzo.. who made good friends with Bobo). The Villa is in a rural location, but do not let that put you off, the property is very near to some of the the most beautiful towns/villages. The local towns of Montagrier and Tocaine St Apre minutes away. Simple stunning! The accommodation is beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean with lovely bed linen and a super comfortable bed … makes you feel home from home. Richard and Ola were exemplar hosts. We had a warm, relaxed welcome. On the last couple of days of our holiday, we shared culinary delights, taking it in turns to host a BBQ evening … really superb evenings, drinking regional wine, sharing stories with lots of laughter and smiles with a finale of watching the sun go down over the blissful landscape surrounding Villa Duroux! We won’t forget our time with our wonderful hosts and thank them sincerely for allowing us to share their amazing home and making our holiday in the Dordogne so very special. We have made a special place in our hearts for our kind and thoughtful hosts and their amazing home "Villa Duroux".... a journey and memory, not easily forgotten. P.S. You must try the kayaking on La Dronne - it was a wonderful, peaceful activity, go as fast or as slow as you like … the riverbank wildlife was delightful.

Perfect for our needs.

Perfect for our needs. The hosts were welcoming and informative about the area and living in France in general. We are delighted to have the opportunity to stay there again shortly. The pool area was done really well with cold drinks and a cute little beach hut and seating area. My partner borrowed one of their bikes and enjoyed an afternoon exploring the area.

Truly lovely stay in the heart of the Perigord countryside

The villa was beautifully presented and very comfortably furnished. It had its own private garden and seating areas outside. It was spacious and spotlessly clean and everything you were likely to need for a comfortable stay was provided. It was actually better than in the online pictures and probably the best place we have stayed in the Perigord region over 30 years of visits to the area. The hosts and their family were lovely and welcoming and the welcome pack of bread, milk, preserves, eggs, breakfast cereal, wine etc was hugely appreciated. Excellent coffee and coffee machines too! Though the pool wasn't open when we were there because of the season, it would we are sure be an amazing facility in the summer months with total peace and beautiful views from the surrounding terrace. Additionally, excellent local restaurants are within short drives for lunch or dinner, and there is a local supermarket for all your needs within a few kilometres.

Just go

Beautiful place and warm welcoming house. We went 10 people for new year's eve there. The owning family was lovely and caring and offered us anything we needed to pass a beautiful three days.
